The NVI is a governmental institution providing diagnostics and research-based scientific advice on animal diseases in support to governmental bodies and the industry. The Dept. of epidemiology is responsible for design and evaluation of surveillance programmes on terrestrial and aquatic animals, and co-directs the OIE collaborating Center for epidemiology and risk assessment for aquatic animal diseases.
